Google Chrome

Google Brought to us the new web browser that base on the open source. I already try it on my office workstation. the Interface look like the vmware tab haha… the application also smooth and look user friendly. But i think firefox more faster better than the Chrome.

A fresh take on the browser

At Google, we spend much of our time working inside a browser. We search, chat, email and collaborate in a browser. And like all of you, in our spare time, we shop, bank, read news and keep in touch with friends – all using a browser. People are spending an increasing amount of time online, and they’re doing things never imagined when the web first appeared about 15 years ago.

Since we spend so much time online, we began seriously thinking about what kind of browser could exist if you started from scratch and built on the best elements out there. We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that’s what we set out to build.

So today we’re releasing the beta version of a new open source browser: Google Chrome.

On the surface, we designed a browser window that is streamlined and simple. To most people, it isn’t the browser that matters. It’s only a tool to run the important stuff – the pages, sites and applications that make up the web. Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go.

Under the hood, we were able to build the foundation of a browser that runs today’s complex web applications much better . By keeping each tab in an isolated “sandbox”, we were able to prevent one tab from crashing another and provide improved protection from rogue sites. We improved speed and responsiveness across the board. We also built V8, a more powerful JavaScript engine, to power the next generation of web applications that aren’t even possible in today’s browsers.

This is just the beginning – Google Chrome is far from done. We’ve released this beta for Windows to start the broader discussion and hear from you as quickly as possible. We’re hard at work building versions for Mac and Linux too, and we’ll continue to make it even faster and more robust.

We owe a great debt to many open source projects, and we’re committed to continuing on their path. We’ve used components from Apple’s WebKit and Mozilla’s Firefox, among others – and in that spirit, we are making all of our code open source as well. We hope to collaborate with the entire community to help drive the web forward.

The web gets better with more options and innovation. Google Chrome is another option, and we hope it contributes to making the web even better.

But enough from us. The best test of Google Chrome is to try it yourself.

Open source web browser but beta only for windows… what it is.. it should be on linux first lol

Debian Celebrate the 15 Years Birthday

Debian Celebrate the 15 Years Birthday. Debian already 15 years exist in Linux World. The Debian just strated on 16 August 1993. I’m still young on that time also don’t know what is Linux. Now the Ubuntu is the most popular Disto base on Debian. Lets go guy, using the Linux and Unix is the best
thing that we all can do….

The Debian Project was officially founded by Ian Murdock on August 16th, 1993. At that time, the whole concept of a “distribution” of Linux was new. Ian intended Debian to be a distribution which would be made openly, in the sprit of Linux and GNU (read his manifesto provided as an appendix to this document for more details). The creation of Debian was sponsored by the FSF’s GNU project for one year (November 1994 to November 1995).

Debian was meant to be carefully and conscientiously put together, and to be maintained and supported with similar care. It started as a small, tightly-knit group of Free Software hackers, and gradually grew to become a large, well-organized community of developers and users.

When it began, Debian was the only distribution that was open for every developer and user to contribute their work. It remains the most significant distributor of Linux that is not a commercial entity. It is the only large project with a constitution, social contract, and policy documents to organize the project. Debian is also the only distribution which is “micro packaged” using detailed dependency information regarding inter-package relationships to ensure system consistency across upgrades.

To achieve and maintain high standards of quality, Debian has adopted an extensive set of policies and procedures for packaging and delivering software. These standards are backed up by tools, automation, and documentation implementing all of Debian’s key elements in an open and visible way.

Hi guys i just get the mail from OpenOffice.org that they already release the new OpenOffice.

The Details Here:

Date: Thu, 03 Apr 2008 02:33:27 +0100 (GMT+01:00)
From: “OpenOffice.org Update Notice”
Subject: OpenOffice.org 2.4 now available
To: hackers_125@yahoo.com

OPENOFFICE.ORG POST
March 2008

Get the latest OpenOffice.org
Download OpenOffice.org 2.4!

Download the latest version and enjoy the many new features of OpenOffice.org 2.4. The new chart engine introduced with OpenOffice.org 2.3 has been improved even further. For example, it is now possible to display the equations of trendlines, optimize the placing of labels, assign number formats to data labels, display each part of a data label in a separate line, reverse axes and more. In addition, OpenOffice.org can now export to PDF/A which is a popular ISO standard for archiving read-only documents. The enhanced extension framework enables extensions to automatically check for updates. Finally, OpenOffice.org 2.4 introduces VBA support allowing a number of existing VBA macros to be run unmodified. A full list of all the new features including a few screen shots can be found in the OpenOffice.org 2.4 Release Notes.

Please help Sun estimate OpenOffice.org’s global market share!

Since OpenOffice.org is available for free and can be downloaded and distributed by anybody, it is very difficult to reliably estimate the size of the OpenOffice.org user base and thus OpenOffice.org’s market share. So far we can only guess. We have some vague numbers, but if you agree to register, you will help us to get more accurate numbers which can be used with skeptical users, software and hardware vendors interested in supporting OpenOffice.org as well as press and analysts. People who register with Sun also benefit from OpenOffice.org related tips and tricks as well as special Sun offers and discounts.

Registering is very easy and straight forward. After installing OpenOffice.org simply agree to register when the initial startup dialog asks you to or go to “Help – Registration” some time later. The dialog will open a browser window which will introduce the OpenOffice.org survey as well as the Sun registration. Just follow the instructions for the Sun registration on the web pages. Thank you very much for your support in advance!

Add More Features – Get Extensions!

Check out the OpenOffice.org extension repository and add more features to your office suite. Currently the top-10 most popular extensions out of the more than 70 available extensions are:

  1. Professional Template Pack – English

  2. Sun Report Builder

  3. eFax for StarOffice and OpenOffice.org

  4. OxygenOffice Extras – Gallery

  5. Writer’s Tools

  6. OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs

  7. OxygenOffice Extras – English Templates

  8. Sun Presentation Minimizer

  9. Pagination

  10. LanguageTool

Lost on the OpenOffice.org website? – Get the OpenOffice.org Menu Add-On for Firefox!

If you frequently get lost on the OpenOffice.org website and don’t find the things you are looking for, you might appreciate the OpenOffice.org Menu add-on for Mozilla Firefox. The add-ons adds an additional OpenOffice.org related menu to your Firefox browser. Every menu item links to a website. Through the add-on it is easy to find downloads, support forums, mailing lists, documentation, etc.

Stuck with a problem? – Check out our forum!

If you don’t know how to do something or if you’re stuck with a problem, check out the OpenOffice.org Community Forum. Most likely someone else has already found the solution to your problem and can help you right away. If you don’t find the right answer in the forum, you might want to try one of the other support options.

BTW, professional per-incident support for OpenOffice.org is now also available in English in addition to French and German.

Missing a piece? – Take a look at the solutions page!

You think OpenOffice.org is great, but you’re still missing a particular application? Check out the products complementary to OpenOffice.org listed on the OpenOffice.org solutions page. The page lists messaging and collaboration products as well as thin client and document management solutions. Also, feel free to add your own solution to the wiki page.
